Each year our Marching Band & Fall Guards participate in weekend competitions.
The non-marching student performers that stand facing the bleachers are the "Pit".
We need a "Pit Crew" to do the following on competition days:
- Pick-up a pre-paid rental truck
- load all equipment/instruments @ BHS
- deliver everything to the competition
- distribute all instruments and hat plumes to our students
- carry the pit equipment onto the field for competition
- reload the truck and bring it back to BHS
- unload all of the instruments/equipment - back into the band room
- return the truck to the rental agency

CHAIRPERSON
A committee chair should be chosen the previous spring before summer vacation.
SIGN UPS for Pit Crew Volunteers are done @ the Family Pot Luck Supper, the last Friday of camp.
You'll need @ least 7 volunteers each week.
Ensure the booster president asks for volunteers at the Pot Luck for each week and explains a bit of what is required.
Set up a schedule for the volunteers and have the booster president send out email requests for any spots that haven't been filled.
Select a truck pick up volunteer for each week - alternate this job so many people learn the process.
Make sure you get the phone #s/emails of every volunteer so you can contact them should the need arise.
The Chair should make sure all pertinent info for each show is placed on the parent calendar on the website. (Times for truck and pit crew arrivals; time of departure from BHS; time of Bethel performance; return times)

PIT CREW VOLUNTEERS
- Check the calendar on the website
- Info will be updated as it changes.
- Make sure you check the Friday night before a show - things can change.
- You should receive a reminder (phone or email) the week you are volunteering.
- If it's your week to pick up the truck - go to Danbury Rent-A-Truck-Inc. on the Saturday of the competition BEFORE 3P.M. (when they close) to pick up the truck and bring it to BHS for loading.
- Truck rental fee will be pre-paid by Boosters
- Fill the truck with gas before returning it and keep your receipt
- Boosters will reimburse you if you submit your receipt
